The new Prodrive 115 FIM homologated silencer for the 2010 track racing season has been intensely track tested by some of the top riders in the world. The ever present Grand Prix rider and ex World Champion Greg Hancock, tested the Prodrive 115 silencer in Germany. Greg was accompanied by top engine tuner Marcel Gerhard for a special testing session at the former GP track at Lundshut, Bavaria. They tested different setups using the Prodrive 115 and the current FIM approved silencer. They found very little difference between the old FIM and the new Prodrive as far as on track performance. Greg noted that the big difference was that you could actually hear the engine working with the Prodrive.
On 24th October, at the famed Herxheim 1000m Longtrack, Sirg Schützbach was testing the Prodrive 115 with his tuner Bernd Zapf of BZ Tuning. They first tested the bike with the previous FIM standard silencer to get a base level to work from. Then installing the new Prodrive 115 onto the bike without doing any other modifications at all, the Prodrive 115 posted virtually identical times. Bernd noted that the engine temperature was a few degrees higher with the Prodrive 115 but not anywhere near the level that had been measured with another 2010 FIM homologated silencer.
At Scunthorpe on 15th November, new GP rider Tai Woffinden, was testing under the watchful eye of his engine tuner Michael Lee. Both Tai and Michael were impressed with the ease in changing from the previous FIM standard silencer to the new Prodrive 115. They said that you just had to take the previous model off and install the new Prodrive 115. The only changes that might have to be made were based on track conditions, which they said would have to be done anyway.
During a testing session at Coventry, GP star Chris Harris noted that, with the new Prodrive 115, he actually felt that he was quicker out of the starts. Chris said that he couldn’t feel any loss of performance compared to his previous silencer.
The Prodrive 115 Silencer is now in stock and ready for immediate despatch from Joe Hughes International.
